Coronavirus (COVID-19) update

Last updated: 31st March 2020

Following the Government’s announcement asking everyone to stay at home, we’re making some changes to the way we work to make sure we’re looking after our people and our customers. We’re setting up as many of our colleagues as possible to work from home, but this will take a few days.

In the short-term, we’re only accepting new business online. That means new customers can't buy insurance over the phone.

Existing customers: Please don’t phone unless it’s absolutely necessary.

We need to prioritise:

  • Customers who have an urgent claim, for example your car is undrivable following an accident, you are injured, or your home is uninhabitable.
  • Customers who can’t pay now as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, call us - we want to help you.

If you have questions about your renewal or want to make a change to your policy, you can use our virtual assistant. If your policy is due to renew in the next week and you haven’t opted for auto-renewal, please call us. If you have opted for auto-renewal, please make sure your insurance still meets your needs.

Families with children in the UK took on average between 3.5 and 4 holidays in 2018, according to a report by the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA).

While many holidaymakers choose to stay within the UK, travelling abroad is a popular choice for families. Direct Line research has revealed that more than 12 million parents have taken their children abroad by the age of five.

Every parent wants to make sure that neither they nor their children face any difficulties while they're on holiday, be that home or abroad. But if something does happen, having the right travel insurance for your family can provide invaluable peace of mind.

Direct Line's Annual Multi-trip cover is suitable for families taking more than one holiday in a year. You can choose how many adults to insure, and children are covered when travelling with an adult insured under the policy or on trips organised by schools or recognised organisations that are supervised by adults.

You'll all be insured should you need emergency medical assistance because of an accident or illness. Existing medial conditions must be declared and accepted by us in order for them to be covered.

You can also choose additional cover for personal possessions, insuring them against loss, theft or damage.

You and your family are also automatically covered for organised activities such as snorkelling, beach games and swimming. Should you be going skiing, you can add winter sports travel cover for an additional cost.

And because this is an annual policy, you'll be covered for an unlimited number of trips, up to 42 days each. If you add cover for winter sports, you're covered up to 22 days each year.

Save 25% on Annual Multi-trip cover when you buy online. Introductory offer only.
