Furniture insurance

If you add up the replacement value of the furniture in your home you will see why it’s so vital to invest in adequate home contents insurance cover. Likewise, built-in components such as kitchen units need to be covered under an adequate home buildings policy. Direct Line Home Insurance policies can help provide cover for both.

Direct Line Home Contents Insurance provides cover on a new-for-old basis for household goods, including furniture, carpets, curtains, and your personal belongings in the home, garages and sheds. Contents cover is provided for loss or damage through fire, smoke damage, lightning, theft, flood and escape of water or oil.

Any valuables you have worth over £2,000 will need to be specified on your policy. Direct Line Home Contents Insurance also insures items in your garden up to the value of £1,000. Great news if you have invested in good quality patio tables or chairs too. To help you work out how much cover you need, click on our handy home contents calculator online. You can then apply for an instant quote online too.

Direct Line Buildings Insurance provides cover up to £1,000,000 for the cost of rebuilding your home and any outbuildings. It not only covers the structure of your home, but also permanent fixtures such as fitted kitchens, bathrooms and fitted wardrobes.

Invest in Direct Line Extra Accidental Damage and you will be insured against DIY disasters and accidental damage to furniture too.

Things you need to know about Over 50s life insurance:
Premiums stop after your 90th birthday but you still enjoy cover for the rest of your life. In the first year, if you die from natural causes we will refund any premiums, or if you die as a result of an accident, we will pay your cash sum. After the first year regardless of the cause of death we will pay your cash sum. Depending on how long you live, the total sum paid in premiums may be more than the cash sum payable on death. If you stop paying your premiums before the end of your policy your cover will stop 30 days after your missed premium and you won’t get anything back. This isn’t a savings or investment product and has no cash value unless a valid claim is made. Inflation will reduce the buying power of your cash sum in the future.
