Looking for the ultimate relaxing break? With award-winning cities, breathtaking coastline, health spas, shopping breaks and stunning countryside – and more than 27 million foreign tourists a year – the UK is one of the world’s hottest destinations. Better still, now you can relax and enjoy the sights, knowing you are covered by Direct Line Travel Insurance, even on home ground.
Best of British
The UK has some of the world’s most popular tourist destinations: if you’re after some heritage, look no further than Edinburgh, York or Bath; for style and shopping check out London, Leeds and Manchester; while if you want to escape to the wild, there are National Parks up and down the country from Dartmoor to Snowdonia and the Scottish Highlands plus stunning coastline in Northumberland, Wales and the South West. In fact, when you consider all the options plus add award-winning accommodation and fabulous deals, it can start to make the Costa del Sol pale in comparison!
Why do I need cover?
Remember, transport and accommodation costs do add up – a long weekend in a cottage in Devon, with a few excursions can easily cost £500 – and unfortunately stressful situations such as family health emergencies, loss or theft of possessions and cancellations may present a hiccup to your arrangements from time to time. With that in mind, Direct Line Single Trip and Annual Cover Travel insurance include cover abroad and in the UK. If you already have Direct Line Home Insurance with the Personal Possessions extension, you can get a discount on your Direct Line Travel Insurance too.
So how can Direct Line help?
Cover for UK breaks applies to Direct Line Single Trip and Annual policies. Direct Line’s Single Trip policy provides up to 90 days of cover on one trip for customers under 60, and up to 42 days of cover on a single trip for customers over 60. However, for those who make frequent business trips, or enjoy weekends away in the UK, it may be worth investing in Direct Line’s Annual policy (available to customers aged under 65) . This gives customers up to 42 days of cover per single trip, and applies to multiple holidays up to 120 days in any one policy year. As long as you meet all the terms and conditions of your Single Trip or Annual policy, you are covered for:
Emergency Medical Expenses in the UK
NHS treatment is free to all residents of the UK. However, if you fall ill or are injured on a UK business trip or break, your Direct Line Travel Insurance will pay up to £2,000 for the transport and accommodation costs of one person to stay with or travel to you. We’ll also pay up to £2,000 for you to be transferred by ambulance to a hospital nearer your home. It’s important to remember that you must not travel against medical advice, and you must advise us of any existing conditions or medical treatments you are undergoing.
Curtailment of a Journey
Cutting your holiday short can be upsetting. To help ease the stress, Direct Line will pay you up to £5,000 for unused accommodation and transport and up to £150 for pre-booked excursions in the UK. This is in the event that you, a travelling companion your journey relies on, or an immediate family member is injured, becomes ill or dies. Cover also applies if you are called for jury service or something serious happens to your home, such as fire or storm damage.
