A long weekend in Venice
Ride a gondola through the tangled network of Italy’s most famed waterways and bask in the atmosphere and charm of one of Europe’s most unique cities. As a one-off treat, consider treating your mum to a night at the Hotel Cipriani, regarded by some as the finest hotel in the world.
Farndale Daffodil Walk, North York Moors
Instead of buying cut flowers, go on a walk through the beautiful Farndale valley, which in spring is full of wild daffodils reputedly planted by the monks of nearby Rievaulx Abbey. At the end of the one-mile walk, which starts at the hamlet of Low Mill, take refreshment at the Daffy Caffy or the local inn in High Mill.

Go ape
For fun mums with teenagers, Go Ape adventure courses are an exhilarating outing for the whole family.
