European Weekend Breaks

Travel insurance - Tips & Advice - Holiday destination guides

Sometimes you need to get away for a break but can’t afford a full holiday. Sometimes, on the other hand, you can afford a break but can’t spare the time. The solution to both predicaments could be a European weekend break…

The choices are many and can be tailored to your requirements. An art buff might want to go to Paris and visit the Louvre. If you want a romantic weekend for two, then Paris is also great, or if you have a family then Disneyland Europe is nearby – all those possibilities and that’s only one city! Active people might want to cycle along the canal paths in Amsterdam, while architecture aficionados will be fascinated as the construction work continues in Barcelona of Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia – due to finish in the middle of this century!

It would be an exaggeration to say that the choices are endless, but they are certainly impressive. They all share one thing in common: things can go wrong occasionally, and when they do, you want to be certain that help is at hand. It is essential when taking short overseas breaks that people make sure they have adequate insurance. So if the plane was cancelled, you were injured in a car crash or property stolen, there could be no recourse.

The options are straightforward and we believe all our Travel Insurance policies are excellent value. They all cover personal possessions up to £1,500 per person (with a total valuables limit of £250 and a single article limit of £250) £500 personal money (£250 cash limit) and up to £5 million in medical emergency cover. Personal accident cover is also provided and cancellation and curtailment cover is up to £5,000 per person.

For further details, see the Travel Insurance section of our website.

The decision you need to make is whether you want to go for a less expensive quote for a one-off trip or whether you’re likely to travel more often. In the latter case, taking an annual multi-trip policy that covers you for a year’s worth of holidays and business trips will make sense and be better value (42 days single trip limit with 120 days cover in any one policy year). Either way, we can insure you at short notice either by phone or online. Our cover is thorough and we deal with claims quickly and efficiently, although naturally we hope you don’t have to make one.
