If you have more than one cat or dog and want to make sure their interests are protected with pets insurance, you could make a saving with Direct Line. Having more than one pet on a Direct Line pet insurance policy entitles you to a multiple pet insurance discount – and this is automatically applied when you get a quote from us. When we ask for your personal details, you simply tell us how many pets you want to insure and we work out a premium, with the discount included.
We will also need to know which level of Direct Line pet insurance you would like to invest in for your cats or dogs. Click on our summary of cover and you will see that we offer two types of pet insurance: Essential and Advanced. Both policies apply to cats and dogs that are resident in the UK, are aged between eight weeks and nine years old (six years for some breeds) and in good health at the start of the policy. Dangerous dogs are excluded from Direct Line pet insurance as are most working pets.
We’ve designed our pet insurance so that it is flexible enough for your specific requirements. Vets’ fees are automatically included – although you can select the level of vet cover you need. Our Essential policy covers vets’ fees for a maximum of 12 months’ treatment for each illness, injury or disease, up to £4,000 per condition, per pet. Our Advanced policy covers vets’ fees up to £6,000 per condition, per pet, with no time limit on reaching this amount. And our three helplines – Vet Helpline, Pet Bereavement and Legal Advice – are included whatever level of cover you choose, giving you access to advice on all the pets you insure.
You and your pets can also benefit from additional cover options. These benefits include advertising and reward if any of your insured pets stray, get lost or are stolen (up to £500 per pet); reimbursement if you lose your pets through theft, straying or death due to accidental injury (up to £1,500 per pet); pet boarding costs if you have to go into hospital for more than four days in a row (again up to £500 per pet); and holiday cancellation cover due to loss, illness or injury of your pet (up to £1,000 per pet). We also offer third party liability; this covers legal liability should any insured dogs cause injury to another person or cause damage to their property, up to a value of £1 million per policy.
Because we also know that sometimes you want or need to take your cats or dogs with you out of the UK, our pet insurance can also include overseas travel cover. This extends your usual cover to include trips to countries that are part of the Government’s Pet Travel Scheme. It covers things such as quarantine costs, loss of a pet passport, repeat tick and worming treatment and emergency expenses for all insured pets while abroad.
When you apply for a pet insurance quote online you also get an additional discount. Insure two pets online and that’s even more off your premium. So don’t delay, invest in our pets insurance for your cats and dogs now.
