Direct Line pet insurance can help alleviate the stress caused by a number of situations concerning the welfare of your pets, for instance if they fall ill and you need to take them to the vet. We know this can be hugely expensive so our pet insurance is designed to help you spread the cost a little bit – and help you rest assured that you have cover if you need it.

We have two levels of cover – Essential and Advanced – plus a number of optional extras you can add on. Essentially you choose how comprehensive you need your pet insurance to be, at a price you can afford.

Vet cover is automatically included in both levels of cover, with a few differences. Our Essential Policy covers vet’s fees for a maximum of 12 months treatment for each illness, injury or disease, up to £4,000 per condition. Our Advanced Policy is more comprehensive providing cover for vet’s fees up to £6,000 per condition, with no time limit on reaching this amount.

But Direct Line pet insurance doesn’t stop there. We know your canine and feline pets can also sometimes get lost or be a victim of theft. That’s why you also have the option to insure them for reimbursement costs up to £1,500 in case you lose your pet through theft, straying or death due to accidental injury. We also offer cover for advertising and reward in case your pet strays, gets lost or is stolen (up to £1000 towards advertising and £200 reward); cover for pet boarding costs if you have to go into hospital for more than four days (up to £1000); and holiday cancellation cover (up to £5,000) in case you have to come home because of the loss, illness or injury of your pet. All these situations can cause a great deal of stress, so it’s good to know you at least have some financial help to help take some of the pressure off while you resolve them.

Add Third Party Liability (up to £2million, for dogs only) to cover legal fees, plus Overseas Travel Cover, and you have the most comprehensive cover of all.
