You need to know that you’re getting the best deal with your life insurance premium and  Direct Line has lots to offer.

You want to make sure you’re getting the best deal from your life insurance policy, which means combining adequate financial cover for your loved ones if you die – but also at a premium you can afford.

With Direct Line, life insurance needn’t cost the earth – in fact your life insurance premium could be as little as 20p per day. What you pay depends on your age, your personal situation and the amount and length of cover you’re looking to purchase. Generally the older you are, and the more you want to provide cover for, depending on your age, (Direct Line Fixed Term Life Cover provides you with between £20,000 and £2million for a minimum cover of five years, for example), the bigger your premium will be. Factors such as health and whether you smoke are also taken into consideration, so it pays to keep fit, on top of your wellbeing and arrange your life insurance sooner rather than later.

To work out your Direct Line Life Insurance premium – for either our Fixed Term Life Cover policy or Mortgage Life Cover, you need to get a quotation from us – either by calling up or applying online. We’ll take all the necessary details into account and work out your premium for you. If you agree to the sum and the terms and conditions, you can apply for a policy and set up a direct debit so your premium will be automatically paid every month.

For our Direct Line Fixed Term Life Cover, you may wish to consider details such as the age of your children, their potential educational needs and related bills when you ask for a quotation; in the event of your death, this could help ensure your family have the level of security they need. Remember the rate of inflation can affect things too, so make allowances for the future. Likewise, if you take out Direct Line Mortgage Life Cover, ensure that you give us  all the details we need to provide adequate cover for the outstanding balance of your standard repayment mortgage in the event of a claim – and arrive at a premium that works for you.

No matter what your premium, both Direct Line Life policies cover for death or terminal illness. In the event of a terminal illness the sum assured may be paid early if you tell us about it at least 18 months before the end of the policy term and subject to terms and conditions. The policies can also be taken out on a single or joint life first death basis. We also provide a life cover policy that includes critical illness protection. Life and critical illness cover pays out a lump sum if you either die or are diagnosed with a critical illness that meets our policy definition. We only cover the critical illnesses we define in our policy and no others.
