Want to insure a second home?
Thinking of purchasing a second property in the UK – perhaps as a weekend break or holiday home? Make sure you protect your investment with Direct Line Home Insurance.
The Second Homes in the UK report by Direct Line in conjunction with The Centre for Future Studies showed that the UK second homes’ market is set to soar 24% by 2015.
If you’re part of the rising trend and you’ve invested money in a second property, then you should take adequate steps to insure it. With Direct Line you can take out Buildings Insurance and Home Contents Insurance at the same time, on your second home in the UK, Isle of Man and the Channel Islands (unfortunately we do not offer cover on holiday homes abroad).
Essentially, Direct Line Home Buildings Insurance provides up to £1 million, (this cover is unlimited on a Direct Line Home Insurance Plus policy), for the cost of rebuilding your home and any outbuildings, should specified damage occur. Home Contents Insurance provides cover on a new-for-old basis for household goods, including furniture, carpets and curtains. You can find more comprehensive details of what is covered, and under what circumstances, on the Home Insurance policy summary.
If you want to insure your UK second home with us, it is important to note that terms and conditions may apply, particularly when the property is unoccupied. We can provide full details of these terms and conditions if you call us on 0845 246 3564.
If you decide that you want your existing home to become your holiday home because you are moving to a new permanent property, and are already insured with Direct Line, you will need to advise us of your change of plan. We can amend your existing Home Insurance cover and arrange new cover for the additional property at the same time.
Whatever you do, don’t delay on getting your UK second home insured – call us for a quote.
